Dorothy Jane Marx Trubow, age 89, died Wednesday October 8, 2014 at her Florence residence. Dorothy was a retired Registered Dietician with Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH) in Miami, FL. Her parents, Frederick and Alice Marx; a brother Wendell H. Marx and a sister Margaret Marx preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter Patricia (Peter) Anne Trubow Hollister and a sister Marilyn (Tom) Leathers. Dorothy had 3 granddaughters Victoria Tymoshenko, Elise (Andrew) Oppmann, Karen (Wayne) Dyer, and 3 great granddaughters. She had 4 nephews, a niece, and several great-nephews and great-nieces. Her beloved cat, Becky, also survives her. Born in Indianapolis on December 16, 1924, Dorothy graduated from Blewett High School in St. Louis at 16. In 1944 she graduated from Iowa State University and began her career as a dietitian at the Charleston, SC, Navy Yard. She later worked in St. Louis before moving to Miami in 1953 where she spent 31 years at JMH, most of them as Director of Food Services. Upon retirement in 1984 she moved to Spring Hill, FL, and resided there until 2009. Dorothy traveled extensively around the world, was a lifelong animal lover, a Girl Scout leader, an accomplished knitter, and loved cooking for family and friends. Visitation will be held Monday 2-4 pm at Linnemann Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Erlanger. A service will follow at 4pm.
