Rollin Jay Kidwell Ph.D., 59, of Burlington, KY, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. Jay served his community as a pastor at Elsmere Church of Christ, a professor at Cincinnati Christian University, and as an author. He was preceded in death by his parents R.J. and Patsy Rose Kidwell. Jay is survived by his beloved wife Lisa Kidwell (nee Beneking), daughters Katie Okerson (Chris), Nickie Chipman (Michael), Erin McHugh (Garet), and Emma Hatfield (John), grandchildren Nora Jae, Lucy, Graeme, and baby McHugh, sisters Vicky Kehrer (Steve) and Pamela Link (Jay), and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 10am until 12pm at Elsmere Church of Christ. The memorial service will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 12pm at the church. Memorial contributions can be sent to Elsmere Church of Christ 124 Carlisle St. Elsmere, KY 41018. Goodbye
I just purchased Jay’s book on Amazon one hour ago and was looking to contact him about something and came across the sad news of his passing.
My condolences to his family.
Jay, you finished strong!!
2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:8, “Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.”

A friend and a model of faithfulness
Jay was a young professor when we became acquainted. Later He asked me to serve on his PhD committee, which was an honor. Then working along side him for those years together in Cincinnati was always a pleasure. Jay always received high remarks from his students, was always active in faculty decisions, and served as a model for thousands of young men and women. We are saddened by his sudden death, but know his legacy will live for many, many years because of those he touched. While we mourn his death, we celebrate his life. Now he’ll hear, “Good and faithful servant, welcome home.”

Remembering Jay Kidwell
Jay was a wonderful man and touched the lives of every student at CCU. He will be missed here on earth. My heart breaks for his family, especially those grandchildren who will never really know him. One of my favorite stories he shared was how he was surprised to learn as a child that he wasn’t a Mexican! He always had a sense of humor, but he was always grounded in the Word. After 9/11 he was asked to address the students at CCU in some way to calm their fears. His message was simple. In essence he said we have nothing to fear…death brings us into the presence of Jesus.
