Tributes
Sathya Kothandram, 48, of Villa Hills, Kentucky, entered into eternal life on July 4th, 2021.
A native of Chennai, India, he was born to the late Kothandram Vajravelu and Nagalakshmi Kothandram on February 8, 1973. He graduated from St. Bedes Secondary School, and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in engineering from SRM Institute and a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Cincinnati. After college, he worked for Great American Insurance and E.W. Scripps.
Always approaching life with a positive attitude, Sathya touched the lives of his friends and family with whom he loved to spend time. A devout follower of Christ, he strived to show love and compassion to everyone he met. He enjoyed traveling, biking, reading, cars, sports and watching TV (M.A.S.H. was his favorite show). He had a blast this summer watching the Copa América and European soccer cups and listening to the cicadas. He believed that potatoes were the best food on Earth, and that Seinfeld had an episode for every situation.
Sathya loved spending time with his extended family especially on their yearly camping trips. He was the best husband and father, bringing home flowers for every special occasion and agreeing to read Harry Potter because his daughter loved it so much. Sathya is survived by the loves of his life, wife, Irene Boerger, daughter, Ana, and his sister Ramavani (Bobby).
A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 2551 Dixie Hwy, Lakeside Park, KY 41017. Please join us to share stories and to remember Sathya.

I just found out today that Sathya has passed. It’s been a long time since we worked together at Great American. He was a tremendous person and truly filled with joy… immeasurably kind, friendly, exceptional. I remember making a cake once (Chocolate Passion… Flourless chocolate torte) and bringing it to work for some celebration and he really loved it. He asked for the recipe, which I shared. I have no idea if he ever made it…I hope he did. He really had a joy for life and he found ways to share that with everyone.

A remarkable man
I worked with Sathya for a couple years at Scripps and he was just an incredible guy. He breathed life into the room every time he came into it and was a joy to talk with. Funny, brilliant and a man of great taste. Guys like Sathya don’t come around often and his loss leaves a devastating hole. I’m so sorry for his family. He was a true gem of pure light.

Wonderful Human Being and Co-Worker
I am still in shock at the loss of Sathya. I was lucky enough to work with him at the annual Bee and for a brief time sat next to him on the 29th floor. He greeted me (and everyone) with a huge smile and heartfelt words that brightened even the gloomiest days. I will miss him terribly and send my love and prayers to his family and loved ones. The world is a little less bright without Sathya.

A great colleague
I so enjoyed all of my opportunities to interact with Sathya over our years together at Scripps. Always a smile on his face and a kind word on his lips. Sathya was a first class human being and I will definitely miss seeing him in the halls, in meetings, and on Zoom meetings! Rest peacefully, my friend.

Words can not express how sorry Mike and I to hear of Sathya’s death. I worked with him at Great American and remained friends after he left and went to Scripps. He left this life way to early. We pray for Irene and Ana. Mike and Debbie Worst
Great human being
Sathya was one of the best co-workers and always had a smile on his face. I had the pleasure of sitting next to him in early in my career and gained a lot of knowledge from him. I was sad to see him leave Great American, not just because of his technical abilities, but the wonderful warm personality that made him great to work with.
Praying that the family finds peace knowing that he’ll be looking down upon us, still smiling.
