George Reid MacKay, 79, of Florence, KY passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood, KY. He was born December 11, 1942 in Buffalo, NY to the late George and Etta MacKay. George proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force and was a base Information Officer at Anderson Air Force Base on the island of Guam during the Vietnam War. He handled the base radio station and public information releases on the base. Upon his exit from the Air Force, he continued in Radio until he settled into his career in sales, advertising and marketing. George loved all types of music, he owned over 600 CD’s, and smooth jazz was his favorite. He was a proud member of the Union Baptist Church, and he loved to sing in the Church Choir. He was also a member of the Florence Community Chorus and would perform with them around Northern Kentucky. George is survived by his loving wife: Tina MacKay, his children: Cameron (Kelley) MacKay, Pamela (Brandon) Drummonds, and Tommy (Krista) MacKay, his grandchildren: Kristin (Zack) Lindstrom, Drew (Keri Anne) MacKay, Alli and Ansley Drummonds, and Owen and Ella MacKay, his cherished dog: Gizmo, and several other loving friends and family. Services for George will be handled in private at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, Inc. at 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047.
