Drexel “Gene” York, age 70 of Erlanger, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021. Gene was born in Huntsville, Tennessee on June 8th, 1951 to the late Elmer and Hilda (nee. Duncan) York. Gene worked as an Airfield Operations Manager for the Ohio Air National Guard 179th Tactical Airlift Wing for more than 30 years – serving in Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom. This came after serving for two years in the United States Air Force. Gene was a lover of all kinds of music and music videos. He was also a classic car enthusiast who treasured his 1969 Oldsmobile 442 that he owned for over fifty years. He was also a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds.
Gene is survived by his wife, Geraldine York, his sister, Darlene Schneider, his two daughters; Paula (William) McDannold, and Sharla (Robin) Hagedorn, two step-daughters; Tammy (Shawn) Gibson, Tina Howard, and his step-son-in-law, Shawn Howard, his 16 grandchildren; Ashley Johnson, Timmy (Dusty) Johnson, Akili Fletcher, Lucas Hagedorn, Marissa (Brad) Milford, Brayden and Dylan McDannold, James, Jessica, and Courtney Vasquez, Derek Gibson, Tyler (Whitney) Barber, and Jeff, Alyson, Ethan, and Josh Howard, his 11 great grandchildren; Jerrick, Adalynn, Elias, Gracen, Leo, Kai, Jovi, Remington, Ezra, EsMay, and Aria, his nephews; Tony (Barb) Schneider, and Bryan Schneider, and his ex-wife whom he remained friends, Beverly York.
A visitation for Gene will be held on Monday, December 27 from 10-11 AM at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, Kentucky with a service to follow at 11 AM. Entombment to immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, Kentucky.
