Paul Joseph Tuemler, age 94, of Edgewood, Ky, formally of Falmouth, Ky, passed away on February 14, 2022. Paul was born on February 23, 1927, to William and Estelle Tuemler in Cold Springs, Ky. Paul was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Schmeusser Tuemler, and 9 siblings; (William, Rosemary, Estelle “Babe”, Elizabeth, Vernon “Gus”, Robert, Lewis “Pat”, Leonard, and Norbert.
Paul was a World War II army veteran and a member of the Falmouth American Legion Post 109.
Paul’s career was in the propane gas business which lasted over six decades. His years in the business began in 1949 selling propane tanks in Crittenden, Ky, for Midwest Bottle Gas. This led to employment and being the manager for Midwest at their Falmouth location. In 1967, Paul accepted a position as manager with AmoGas (Tuloma) in Walton, Ky. When an opportunity presented itself, he bought the propane gas plant and started Paul Tuemler LP Gas Company in 1971. For many years, Paul also worked at nights as a plumber, electrician and installing furnaces and air conditioners.
Paul and Shirley had four children: Penny(Russ), George(Beth), Hope(Pat), and Amy(Dale); eight grandchildren: Joseph(Ashley), Rachel(James), Erin(Joe), Matt(Erin), Ryane(Nick), Meredith(Eric), Paul(Maria), and Emma(Chris) and 13 great grandchildren: Maya, Wren, Amelia, Sarah, Allison, Lucy, Lily, Nora, Boden, Michael, Henry, Charlotte, and Ava.
After his family, his greatest love was flying. His first plane was wingless, but that didn’t stop him from “driving” it around his backyard. He received his private pilot’s license in 1961 and started a flying club in Falmouth, Ky, composed of 5 men who jointly owned a plane. Paul shared his love of flying with friends and the community, offering rides to all. He was instrumental in obtaining funding for the Gene Snyder Airport in Falmouth, Ky, and served a s President of the Airport Board.
Paul and Shirley loved traveling in their RV and spending time on Sanibel Island where they owned a vacation home.
In Pendleton County, Paul is best known for his contributions to the Pendleton County Youth Fair and supervising the building of the Pendleton County Extension Office, which was originally named after him. The community is probably most grateful for his encouraging Howard Hess to rebuild Howard’s Place after the flood and fire, becoming the “general contractor”. Paul was also a member of the Falmouth Rotary and Lions Clubs and the United Methodist Church. In his later years, he was a volunteer at Hospice Care of St. Elizabeth.

Just heard about this and want to send my condolences. Paul was an outstanding man who helped and touched many. I was inspired by his energy and drive for new adventures.
I recall many visits to Tuemler house and was always welcomed and had fun. Paul and Shirley raised a wonderful family and always contributed back to Falmouth even after moving away.
My favorite memory was the time George let me drive his go cart around a tree in the front yard of their home on Monument Street. Only problem was that I was about 7 years and didn’t know how to hit the brake to stop so I just kept circling around. Paul had to come out and rescue me.
Have many other great memories of all the Tuemler family and have you in my prayers.

Paul gave me my first flight!
I was a young naïve KSP Trooper who was assigned to work a plane crash in Falmouth. I hadn’t been on long and was feeling a bit out of my element when Paul came landing at the Airport. He introduced himself and told me what the pilot had done wrong, over climbing and stalling out airplane. He took me up for my first flight right there on the spot and helped me understand the dynamics! He was a credit to his craft and to others he met! Paul was such a wonderful man. He always greeted me with a warm smile and a hug. I will always treasure how the Tuemler family welcomed me into their family. My heart goes out to every single one of them. May they Always know how blessed they are to have such a wonderful family.

We are so sorry to learn of Paul’s passing. We have so many wonderful memories with the Tuemler family! Paul certainly shared his time and talent in so many ways to better our community, and he and Shirley were a world of fun! We will cherish our memories. We always had fun with Uncle Paul and flying in Falmouth. Parties in Edgewood or Falmouth with him and Aunt Shirley and cousins were the best!
