Odessa “Baba” Sanders, 83, of Florence, KY was called home to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 3, 2022. She was born the daughter of the late Leon and Luella Parker Wingo on January 1, 1939, in Duncan, MS.

Odessa grew up with five siblings. She was a hardworking woman and wanted to see everyone happy and smiling. Odessa worked for the American Hospital Association for over 20 years. She raised a large family of her own and assisted in emergency childcare, which lead her to becoming a foster parent. She was well known for her wonderful cooking skills. Odessa was a sweet, spirited lady who loved her family and friends. She always had a story to tell her family about her younger years. She enjoyed watching her church services on television. But most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them. Odessa will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Those left to carry on her legacy are her children, Terry (Martina) Whitehead-Wingo, Michael (Monique) Wingo, Yolanda (Andre) Wingo-Coleman, Jacqueline Burns, Everett (Sonia) Jones, Gregory Jones, Terrence (Crystal) Jones, Charles Sanders, Kevin Lee, Cindy Sanders, Sly Sanders; one daughter in law, Darlene Wingo; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, Samuel Sanders; son, Carl Sanders; brothers, Lige Ellis, Robert Keller, James Wingo, Leon Wingo; one sister, Ruth Lee.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 11:00 AM. At Linnemann Funeral Home 30 Commonwealth Ave, Erlanger Ky 41018. She will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
