Tributes
Scott Murrer, born April 26, 1961, died unexpectedly from a heart attack during the early morning hours of November 24, 2022.
Scott was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Harold Scott Murrer (deceased) and Angela Murrer. He graduated from St. Xavier High School and Harvard University, where he played both football and track and field. Upon graduation from Harvard, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys.
When he returned to Cincinnati, Scott worked for Modern Machinery Company until the early 1990s. He then started his own business, concentrating on real estate.
Scott is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Cherie Marchio Murrer, their sons Sam, Mannie, Jose and Ago, his mother, Angela Murrer, his sisters Laura Murrer (Greg Jarvis), Linda Murrer (David Greener), and Diana Murrer (T. Patrick Foy). He is also survived by nieces Emily Foy Klotz (Nicholas Klotz), Marie Foy (Michael Lambert), and nephew Patrick Foy.
Scott had a personality that was larger than life and generous in spirit. He gave his time and energy freely to anyone who needed it. He will be missed very dearly by his family and his many friends. He was especially proud of his and Cherie’s four wonderful sons — all graduates of Covington Catholic High School. A private Memorial Mass is being held for the family. A Celebration of Scott’s life is scheduled from 5:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at The Humble Monk Brewing Company, 1641 Blue Rock Street, Cincinnati, OH 45223 (in Northside). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Scott Murrer Scholarship Fund at Covington Catholic High School, 1600 Dixie Highway, Park Hills, KY 41011.
