Ema “Jean” L. Shackleford, of Florence, KY died January 9, 2016 at Brookdale Care Center in Edgewood. She was 95 years of age. Jean was a retired teacher and worked for many years for the Boone County Board of Education. She loved children, was very dedicated, and always had every child’s best interest at heart. She was a member of Burlington 1st Church of Christ, the ADK Teachers Sorority and Retired Teachers Assoc. of Kentucky. Survivors include a son Mark Shackleford of Florence; a daughter Jean Courtney of Florence and a brother Ken Lucas of Richwood. Jean was grandma to John Shackleford, Amanda Kovach, Tasha Courtney, Chelsea Courtney and Sean Courtney. She has four great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan 14th, 5-8pm at Linnemann Funeral Home and Event Center, Burlington. Funeral services will be held Friday Jan 15th, 10am, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Burlington 1st Church of Christ for the Grundy Mountain Mission School. www.linnemannfuneralhomes.com.
