Tributes
Joseph R. Zimmer, 85 of Erlanger, passed away on April 19, 2023. Joe served as a Fire Captain of the Jersey City Fire Department in New Jersey. He was an avid golfer, chess player, and played full-court basketball into his 70s. He also was a good musician who played piano, guitar, and upright bass. You could always count on Joe to be able to put a smile on your face with one of his many jokes! He enjoyed cheering on UK Basketball and the Reds and was quite a movie buff. Most importantly, Joe considered himself to be blessed by God for his family. He absolutely adored his wife and children and was referred to as a “professional” grandpa. He would be at practically all his grandkids’ events, from baseball to swimming and everything in between. Truly, a great man who will be deeply missed by everyone who loved him.
Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years: Margaret Zimmer, children: Melissa (Vito) La Corte, Cindy (Rick) Lawrence, and Joe (Lisa) Zimmer, grandchildren: Jessica (Jim) Fette, Katie (Dana Kasten) La Corte, and Tony La Corte, Jeff Lawrence, Thomas (Chloé) Lawrence and Scott (Emma) Lawrence, Marisa Stidam, Malorie Zimmer, Kelsey Zimmer and Bethany (Trey) Coffman and great-grandchildren: Grace, James, and Max Fette.
