Tributes
Sigrun “Sig” Horton of Villa Hills, KY passed away December 12, 2015 at the age of 74. She was an incredibly beloved wife, mother, daughter and dear friend to people (& animals) all over the world, and is going to be missed dearly. She was born Apr 5, 1941 in Pernitz, Austria, and immigrated to Victoria, Canada in 1949 with her mother Gisela and step father, Rudy Bialuski. She lived in Lebanon in the early 1950’s while her father worked for UNRWA and UNESCO and attended school there and in Switzerland, then moved to Sacramento, CA in 1957. She spoke three languages (German, French and English) fluently and in her lifetime had traveled to every country on earth except for a small handful, though Hawaii was always her favorite destination. Sig graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Master’s in Psychology and a passion for helping underprivileged youth, which she used while working for Contra Costa County Juvenile Hall. Later, she returned to Sacramento to operate the family travel business, Giselle’s Travel, which grew and flourished under her expert guidance. In 1988, she moved to Burlington KY with her husband and daughter, and continued to positively change the life of everyone who met her. She is survived by her husband, Larry of Villa Hills and daughter, Kristina of Berkeley, CA .
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Boone County Animal Shelter or the SPCA.
