Condolences

David Anthony Epplen “Dave” age 79, passed away on May 12, 2023, at Coldspring Transitional Care Center with family by his side. He was born on March 29, 1944, in Covington, KY to the late George and Lorraine Epplen. Dave graduated from Covington Catholic High School in 1962. Dave married Donna Lenhoff on January 16, 1965, and had seven children. Dave enjoyed years of coaching and umpiring baseball. Dave was president of Greater Cincinnati Knothole for several years, established Crosstown Baseball and is a member of the NKY Sports Hall of Fame. In addition, he was active with the Cincinnati Reds Community Fund, supporting youth baseball in the area. Dave was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church where he was an usher for 60 years. Dave is preceded in death by his wife Donna, son Michael and brother Gary. Dave is survived by his brother Joe Epplen, children David James (Karen), Kelly (daughter-in-law), Susan Black (Rodney), Steven (Sarah), Krista Hughes (Greg), Jeffrey (Jennifer), Daniel and his 19 grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday May 19, 2023, from 11:00am to 12:00pm with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00pm at Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell, KY. Dave will be laid to rest at St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, KY.
