Virginia Ann Langsdale

Obituary
Condolences

Virginia Ann Langsdale, 87, of Burlington, KY passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024 at Hospice Care of St. Elizabeth. She was born October 20, 1936 in Lexington, KY to the late Shelby and Kathleen Adams.  Virginia lost her dad when she was seven and grew up as an only child with her mom in Lexington, KY.  She met the love of her life, Victor (Fred) Langsdale while attending Transylvania University.  They enjoyed participating in the Transylvania choir and attending UK football and basketball games together.

Shortly after getting married in 1958, they moved to Kansas City as Fred became a pastor and Virginia gave birth to two sons (Steve & Stuart) while living in Missouri.  They moved back to Florence, Kentucky in 1968 to raise their family and they lived in Boone County for the rest of her life.

Virgina was an avid gardener and took great pride in giving people plants to help start their own garden.  She also was an excellent cook and took great joy in giving family and friends cookies and other treats.  She was very generous and would often shop for Christmas presents a year in advance.  She never stopped giving.

She participated in the Boone County Fair for over 40 years and won numerous blue ribbons for everything from flowers to crafts and food. She also worked several jobs including being a substitute teacher for Boone County Schools.  She enjoyed this work as she loved to talk and meet new people.

Virginia was very active and particularly enjoyed spending time with her six grandchildren.  They brought her incredible joy as she enjoyed going to parks, playing board games and attending their various activities.  She also got the great joy of seeing five great grandchildren with another one on the way.  Family meant everything to her and she was loved deeply by them.

Her marriage of over 65 years to Fred is a wonderful example of love and commitment that inspired all that knew them.

She is survived by her husband, Victor Frederick Langsdale, and her children Steve Langsdale (Lisa) and Stuart Langsdale (Jeanne), her 6 grandchildren – Logan Langsdale, Katie Stoepel (Michael), Sydney Woodcock (Trevor), Adam Langsdale, Drew Langsdale (Roni) and Savannah Langsdale, and 5 great grandchildren – Nathan and Carter Langsdale, Boone Woodcock, Emmett and Maria Stoepel.

A visitation will be held for Virginia on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 9066 Gunpowder Road, Florence, KY 41042.  There will be a service from 11:00am until noon and a lunch provided thereafter.

Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Virginia to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
