Dr. Rosa Weaver

Obituary
Condolences

Dr. Rosa Weaver (nee: Conover), 76, of Villa Hills passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Madonna Manor.

Rosa was well known and respected in Northern Kentucky as an educator and a friend to every life she touched.  She began her teaching career in 1969 at Erlanger Elementary.   She then moved to Kenton County where she served as a teacher for the rest of her K-12 career (teacher at Caywood Elementary School, teacher at Dixie Heights High School, Dean of Girls at Scott High School, principal at Ryland Heights Elementary, and principal at R.C. Hinsdale Elementary).  She served at Hinsdale for 18 years.  Upon her retirement, the City of Edgewood declared June 4, 1999 “Dr. Rosa Weaver Day” and she was presented with a Kentucky Colonel and City Proclamation.  Rosa continued her own education at University of Kentucky, earning her Ed.D.  Upon retiring from Hinsdale Elementary, Rosa began another journey as a Professor at Northern Kentucky University where she was hired to develop a new MA program in Instructional Leadership (principal certification).  Until her retirement in 2019, Rosa was instrumental in teaching and preparing a new generation of students, teachers, school principals, and leaders across the northern Kentucky region. At whatever level of education, Rosa was not “just a teacher.”  She served her students as a guide, mentor, and friend.  She encouraged her students to be their best selves.  In total, Rosa devoted 50 years as an educator in the Northern Kentucky area.

Throughout her 20 years at NKU and after her retirement, Rosa enjoyed traveling the world, golfing, shopping, reading, and spending time with family and friends.  She also made time to volunteer with various charity/educational foundations, continuing her commitment to education in Kentucky.  In 1995 she was declared Woman of the Year of Northern Kentucky–a well-deserved title.

Rosa was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Ann Conover (nee:  Purdy) and longtime partner, Dan Marinello.  During her time with Dan and after his death, Rosa was a devoted grandmother to Dan’s grandchildren in Vermont.

She is survived by her siblings, Judith Ann Conover Hagaman (John) and David Purdy Conover (Carol).   Nieces and nephews include:  Todd Mallalieu, Lori Mallalieu, Nolan Conover, Chelsea Conover Barnes, and Tristan Conover.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM, March 2, 2024, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Crestview Hills, KY.  Reception to follow in Fellowship Hall.

Rosa Weaver

Rosa: I graduated with you from Dixie Heights. You have always excelled in whatever to did even as a young girl. You have really influenced so many lives ..peace be with you.

You will be missed

Principal Rosa Weaver was at RC Hinsdale when I attended school there from K-6 grades.

When I later graduated from
NKU she was at my graduation and we took a photo together after commencement.

An amazing person. You will be missed.

Much Respect,

Brad

A warm caring lady!

Rosa was a wonderful lady whom I have know for many years. She was my Sunday School teacher at Zion Lutheran Church in Park Hills and later taught me English at Dixie Heights High School. I sang at her wedding! Later my children were fortunate enough to attend Hinsdale while she was principal. I was the PTA President then and she was wonderful to work with. She had a warm smile and a ready laugh. Rosa was a great problem solver and steady influence over many young minds. I am saddened by her death but feel blessed to have known her. Prayers for her family. Blessings, Marsha Moeves Linnemann

The best principal!

Dr. Weaver was the best principal! I attended Hinsdale throughout my childhood and have fond memories of her doing so many fun things. As an adult now working in education, I see from that perspective how wonderful and dedicated of an educator she was. May she rest in peace.

Wonderful Mentor

Rosa was a fabulous mentor and colleague. When I first started at NKU in 2001, Rosa’s office was next to mine and she created such a welcoming atmosphere. Over the years I watched her expertly support and guide many teachers into administration, my son-in-law being one of them. Even when life challenged her, Rosa was always positive and professional. She touched more lives than anyone can count, and she is greatly missed. My heart goes out to her friends and family.
We love you Rosa!

Prayers for the family and friends.

Dr. Weaver served as the principle at RC Hinsdale where my sons attended elementary school. She was an amazing person who took the time to know each of her students. She will be missed.

May she be at peace with our Lord

I personally did not have Mrs. Weaver as a student. I did however adore her personality and wisdom at Dixie Heights.
Prayers for the family and friends.

Sympathy

Sincere sympathy to the family and to all those who remember Rosa with fondness.
