Obituary
Condolences

Karla Helen (Stegelmeier) Nurnberg, 68, passed away on Sunday February 22, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. Karla was born in Rexburg, Idaho on June 15, 1946 to Louis Otto and Dora Minnie (Jensen) Stegelmeier. Raised on the family farm in Green Timber, the daughter of an Idaho spud and Holstein dairy farmer, she loved her home at the foot of the Grand Tetons. She attended North Fremont High School, in Ashton, Idaho and enjoyed being in the pep club and traveling throughout the state cheering for her Huskies. Karla served as a missionary in southern Germany for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and her love for her German and Danish heritage carried over into her post-secondary studies. She attended Ricks College and later graduated from Brigham Young University, where she loved to cheer for her Cougars. She received a bachelor’s degree in library sciences, specializing in German family history research, which she used throughout her life to help countless family members, friends and clients to trace their family history. She was introduced to the love of her life, Richard, by a mutual friend at a dinner party. She was shy, but he pursued, and won a first date at the Utah State Fair. They married on November 14, 1975 in the Salt Lake Temple, and shared 39 wonderful years together. Many loved and cherished family members passed on ahead of Karla, and she looked forward to reuniting with them; including her two sisters, Marlene (Whitney) Bunderson and Twila (Tom) McNeeley, and her brother, Roy (Trudy) Stegelmeier. Karla is survived by her husband, Richard and five children Daughter, Marta (Daniel) Lords; Son, Paul (Angela) Nurnberg; Daughter, Katrina (Nathan) Dansie; Daughter, Marlena Jensie; and Son, Daniel (Lauren) Nurnberg, and her brother, Loren (Ann) Stegelmeier. She loved and was proud of her nine grandchildren and always asked about what they were doing and accomplishing. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews who remember her with love and affection. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015 6pm until 8pm at Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger, KY. Additional Services and Interment will take place in Salt Lake City, UT. In lieu of flowers, friends and family may make a donation to the FHSS – Center for Family History & Genealogy Education at Brigham Young University.
