Condolences

Quinlan, Joyce Mary, 94 October 15, 1918 to March 15, 2013. At 6:40 am, Joyce peacefully passed on to heaven. She spent her final hours surrounded by the people who loved her. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, William Martin Quinlan, her mother Doris Herfurth Quinlan Hermes, and her step father Arnold J. Hermes, all of Louisville.
Joyce attended Christ the King School, Villa Madonna Academy in Villa Hills, KY and graduated from Loretta High School in Louisville, KY. She graduated from Thomas More College, and taught English at Villa Madonna Academy for 26 years. She earned a Masters in English from University of Notre Dame and a Master’s in Education from Xavier University. She also taught at Thomas More. Joyce was a Benedictine Nun (Sister Petra) for 37 years.
Joyce worked for the Union Institute and obtained a Doctoral degree in Psychology 1978. She spent many years as a counselor, and led many spiritual groups. Joyce was an excellent listener and counsel to so many. In 1981 she moved to Florida & married Lester Neiditz. They separated in 1988 and Joyce returned to Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area to help found IMAGO, a grassroots, environmental education organization located in the Price Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati, OH.
Joyce is survived by her sister, Mary Anne Bryant, niece Susan Bryant Watkins, the McCarty and Murphy cousins all in Louisville; and special friends everywhere. A special thanks to her dear friends Pat Dolan, Eileen and Jim Schenk, and Barbara Nicholson who kept the vigil and offered their love and support in her final hours.
Thanks to Little Sisters of the Poor of Cincinnati for their care over the last 3 years; Good Samaritan Hospital and Hospice of Cincinnati for their care and comfort in her final hours.
A mass and celebration of her life will be held at Mother of God Church, 119 W 6th St Covington, KY at noon on Saturday, April 6.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to; IMAGO, The St. Benedict Sisters at St. Walburg Monastery, or to Little Sisters of the Poor, Cincinnati, Ohio.
