Tributes
Carl J. “Yatz” Goetz, 87, of Ft. Mitchell, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Edgewood. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Ft. Mitchell, KY, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was an avid sportsman, with interests in all areas of sports. As a young man he played on the Holy Name baseball team where he excelled as a catcher. He faithfully followed the University of Notre Dame football team, and attended the Kentucky Derby 35 years in a row. Carl was a member of the Dutchmen Rod and Reel Gun Club in Burlington, KY and was a loyal member of the “Boonies,” a group of Ft. Mitchell men who grew up together. He also was a WWII Army veteran. He is survived by his brothers: Albert “Butch” Goetz, and Eugene “Lefty” Goetz, both of Ft. Mitchell, KY. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and many friends and caretakers. His visitation will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 8:30-10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell. Arrangements are being handled by Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger. Memorial donations are suggested to: Redwood Rehabilitation Center, 71 Orphanage Road, Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017.
