Mary Lee McGinnis

Obituary
Condolences

Mary Lee McGinnis (nee Glueck), age 85, of Crescent Springs, KY, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospice Center, Edgewood KY, on February 10th, 2017, after a brief and unexpected colon cancer diagnosis. She was born on June 27, 1931 in Cincinnati, OH to Louis W. and Connie Glueck. Her husband, John “Mac” McGinnis, and daughter, Sally McGinnis Monahan proceed her in death. She is survived by her devoted children: Molly (Dave) Barth, Connie (David deceased) Flynn, John (Shelley) McGinnis, Kathleen (Doug) Tucker, Joe (Sandy) McGinnis, Mary (Jerry) Eilerman, Erin (Tony) Cline, and son-in-law, Dan (Connie) Monahan. Grandchildren: Sarah, Graham (Melanie), and Clay Barth; Kyle (Rachel), John, and Diana Monahan; Breanna and Bailey Flynn; Kristen (Jason) Merkle, Loren (Bill) Jakaitis, and Rachel McGinnis; Drew and Abel Tucker; Jesse, Connor, and Julie McGinnis; Jordan, Jacob, and Galen Cline. Great Grandchildren: Grace, Hannah, and Malachi Merkle. Sisters-in-law: Mary Kroeger and Pat (Mike) Cahill and numerous nieces and nephews. She lived in Northern KY her entire life, attending Blessed Sacrament and Villa Madonna schools. As early as the 5th grade, Mary Lee developed genuine relationships that would last a lifetime, as with the “Sunshine Club”. In college, Mary Lee earned her RN degree from Good Samaritan school of nursing, practicing nursing for a few years with an OB/GYN group until the start of her large family. As an only child, rearing 8 children, she was thankful for her nursing skills, as were all of her neighbors. Later she volunteered at St. Charles Nursing Home with her “Rusty Nurse” degree, caring for her resident father and many others. Mary Lee and Mac’s faith was the center of their lives. They sent all their children to Catholic schools, and remained very active in St. Pius X Parish, which later led them both to deepen their faith through the Cursillo movement. Mary Lee was on the first Women’s Cursillo Team in Northern KY, while Mac was on the second Men’s Cursillo Team. Most of their lifelong friends were developed from this relationship. Mary Lee was in a prayer group with Cursillo friends for over 40 years. Blending their interests and faith through their lives, they developed forever-friends.   Mary Lee served as a volunteer at Be-Concerned for many years, serving on the Board of Directors there, as well as the Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home. Mary Lee and Mac enjoyed camping, house-boating, tennis, cards, and “snow birding” in Florida. Visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at St. Pius X Church in Edgewood, KY. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be held Friday, February 17, 2017 at 11am at St Mary Cemetery in Ft Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, consider memorials to Be-Concerned (1100 West Pike Street, Covington KY, 41011), Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home (75 Orphanage Rd., Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017) or the Glenmary Home Missioners (4119 Glenmary Trace, Fairfield OH 45014). Online condolences can be made at www.linnemannfuneralhomes.com

Wonderfu Lady

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of “Mom” McGinnis. I have spent many happy hours in the past with Connie and the McGinnis family and was always touched by the sweet smile and warm embrace of Mrs. McGinnis. She will be sorely missed but we can rejoice knowing she is in her Heavenly home and reunited with Mac. Much love to Connie and all the McGinnis “kids.” Love you all! Caie Dulin

Condolence for Kathleen, Doug, Drew, Abel and entire family!

Kathleen, Doug, Drew and Able,
We were saddened to learn of the death of your mother, and grandmother. Please know that you and the entire family are in our thoughts and prayers. May God strengthen you and comfort you in the days ahead! In Christ, Billy Joe and Sheila Douglas
