Rachel Dean Millay, 78, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Madonna Manor in Villa Hills, KY. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Millay, and her parents, Benjamin Franklin Dean and Ovana Holder. She is survived by her sons, Larry (Sue) Millay of Batavia, OH, Keith (Suzanne) Millay of Crestview Hills, KY, and Chad (Lisa) Millay of Hebron, KY. Rachel also leaves behind her grandchildren: Amy Clifton, Kelly Millay, Zack Millay, Haley Millay, Lilly Millay; her great-grandchildren: Andrea Clifton, Emily Martina, and Amanda Martina; and her great-great grandchildren: Riley Caldwell and Pierce Reno. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 8:30AM-9:30AM at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, March, 15, 2017 at 10:00AM at Blessed Sacrament Church in Ft. Mitchell. Burial at Evergreen cemetery in Southgate, KY. A TRULY BEAUTIFUL PERSON
I feel sadness for Rachel’s three sons. Yet. I am happy that they had the most excellent love any Mother could only hope to match. Her sons were always number one in her life and that was just one big part of her total realm of beauty. This love will be endless and forever to the three fine men that possess her beauty still. I pity anyone that knew her well enough to really know her because the void is sure to hurt. I am sorry for your loss but you were very lucky to have known her.
We were split for many years until I came back from Europe and found she called. Our differences seemed so huge in the past but we discovered they were really quite small. She apologised and so did I for the silly wrongs we did to each other and both were so ashamed of. We both forgave and it melted any past bitterness. We talked frequently on the phone. We realised that we could have a deep friendship across many decades yet never fit as married couples should. I had been looking for her periodically since she moved but could not find her in the nursing home searches I ran.
She was kind, thoughtful, good, generous and one of the best Mothers ever. She was funny, a joy to be with and she had a big heart. I can remember her giving to the poor and not charging the downtrodden tax. She was a very, very hard worker. She was one of the cleanest women you would ever meet. I discovered much too late just how eternally loyal she really was.
I shed my own tears now for the love of a wife I once had and the love of a friend I always had. I feel good inside knowing Jesus will recognise Rachel for the Christian good woman she always was and reward her as only he could.
