Chase Thomas Fischer, 18, and Cole Patrick Fischer, 14, of Villa Hills, KY, passed away in a tragic boating accident on Lake Cumberland on Friday, July 14, 2023 while making the most of every moment.
Chase was a recent graduate of Villa Madonna Academy, where he played tennis and ran cross country, and was preparing to attend the University of Utah in the fall. He was easy-going, with great hair, and a warm smile. He and his jeep were the perfect vibe. Chase had a deep relationship with his best friends enjoying skiing, mountain biking, pickleball, golf, a day at the farm, a late-night video game, or plenty of other escapades. Often the evening would start with a couple coneys from Skyline or a chocolate malt from Graeter’s Ice Cream, and end with a story to share at the Fischer House. He was just discovering his ability to connect with children as he taught ski lessons at Perfect North and volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Kentucky.
Cole had just graduated 8th grade at Villa Madonna Academy and was beginning to engulf himself into the culture at Elder High School. He loved cross country; he loved the comradery and the friendly competition. Cole had a great smile, was outgoing and a friend to everyone. He was always ready for a conversation about anything from Roman History to sports to Pokémon. Cole absolutely loved life, the Erlanger Putt-Putt, a good back scratch, no-tie shoelaces, paintball, sporting events, flag football, YouTube Shorts, football cards, gel blasters, and animals, especially his pretty cow, Clarabelle, and his dogs. He was ready for any game, especially cards, a video game, chess, and Monopoly. The first suggestion for every dinner out led to Mater Paneer and a Mango Lassi at Guru India. He and his best friends were having an amazing time selling car washes door to door this summer on their bikes in Villa Hills.
Chase and Cole are deeply loved by their family including parents, Greg and Amy Fischer; their sister, Isabelle “Izzy” Fischer; their grandparents, Henry and Elaine Fischer, George “Tony” and Pam Adams; their Aunt, Angie and Mike Waugh; their Uncle, Tony and Kristin Adams; and their cousins, Tristan and Jaden Waugh, and Lucia and Ben Adams. The boys loved their time with family, whether it was jumping on the trampoline, going to the card shop, dinners at Mama’s, trips to Florida or the lake, fireworks, pickleball, a movie, cheering on Izzy, going to a game, Memorial Day parades, Easter egg dying, family vacations, Yahtzee, the annual hayride, Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, or an epic ski trip.
We had an action packed 14 and 18 years full of love and are so thankful to have had them in our lives.

Visitation will be on Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 2:30PM-6:30PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crescent Springs, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, July 24, 2023 at 10:00AM at the church. They will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell.

Our sweet and fun game day pal will always be be remembered
Cole was the type of kid who seemed to fit in anywhere, talking with kids, adults, elderly or whomever he gave his dimple filled smile to. We had the honor and pleasure of meeting him 3 or 4 years ago at many home (and away) Bengals games. His talk of Kevin Huber being the best, despite our razzing him about it. His high fives and fist bumps with each big play and our shared who dey chants will be so missed. We got to know Cole a little more each year, and this past year we really got to share important moments, like hearing the stories of his ski trips, and his ask for a cow for Christmas which my husband adamantly encouraged, telling Cole to keep at his dad, while give Greg the side eye…like you know you are gonna give in…. Sure enough after Christmas the first thing we asked at the next game was, so did you get your cow? He was so excited that the Yes!! practically leaped from him with a smile the size of Texas. I asked, well what did you name it? He said very confident and proud “ClaraBelle”. I could only think to myself, what an adorable name from an adorable kid. Although we had many small chats and shared ups and downs of the games, one special moment I had the chance to share with Cole really left an impression on me. It was a moment that showed me and anyone else there what a kind, sweet, beautiful soul he truly is. It was the Buffalo game and we all know what happed, Damar Hamlin collapsed. Among the quiet whispers, I felt compelled to say aloud to those around me “ I think we should pray. Wouldn’t it be awesome it everyone held hands and prayed right now?” I held up my hands and said “Does anyone want to pray the Hail Mary with me?” No one answered. And then Cole looked back at me and said “I’LL PRAY WITH YOU” and he grabbed my hand, and I said, ok let’s do the Hail Mary then, and then Greg said, ok I’ll pray with you and took Cole’s hand. We said it once, and as we started to repeat it, Greg said, oh wait we are doing it over and over? I said, yes, and Greg prayed once more time, and let go, while Cole and I repeated it a few more times. Fast forward to the next game at home, when I saw Cole, I said, Cole, our prayers worked! He grinned wide and said I know! I wish I’d gotten more opportunities to chat with Chase. We knew he was on his way to new adventures in college in Utah.
I know there are so many unknowns and unanswered questions on why this has happened. I choose to believe it is for a reason that is beyond what any of us can comprehend- that the purpose Cole and Chase have now is higher and greater than the love they shared with each of us on earth. I’m so very heartbroken for everyone who deeply loved these boys and knew them. I could see the joy and love for life they had in their short time here. Rest in Peace, Cole and Chase. You will be missed, never forgotten. I have a feeling we will hear “Who Dey” from the best seats in the house, the ones with an aerial view.

Cole was my best friend. I will remember all the great times we had together: making money washing cars, playing flag football, playing Mario Kart, the annual paintball gathering, going to the Baseball Card Shop, making the cardboard regatta boat, playing pickleball in the pickleball shorts he gave me, playing games in my backyard, and spring break in Florida. But no matter what we were doing, Cole was always happy, and I loved being around him. I will miss Cole, and the fact that he is no longer here really hurts, but he will be forever in my heart.
