Dale Robert Tanner, 67, of Erlanger, KY passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY surround by his loving family. Mr. Tanner proudly served our country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a retired partner with Ricks Auto Body Shop in Erlanger, KY. Mr. Tanner is survived by his brothers, Edmund and Jim Tanner, nephews, Mark (Kim) Tanner, Tom (Lynetta) Tanner and niece Amy (Bob) Carr. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 10am to 12pm with funeral services to follow at 12pm. Burial will be at KY Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, Edgewood, KY or the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, 1235 S. Clark St., Arlington, VA 22202.

Heartfelt condolences
I am very saddened to hear of your loss and extend heartfelt condolences. It breaks our hearts when death separates us from our loved ones. We are reminded in the Bible that there is One who sees our sorrow and pain and has promised that soon death will be done away with forever (Isaiah 25:8). God will heal our broken hearts by resurrecting our precious loved ones to life again (John 5:28,29). This hope from God has helped me and my family during similar trials and it is our hope that you will also find much comfort in God’s promises for the near future.

Dale will be missed.
My name is Mandy and I am Dale’s great niece. I honestly didn’t know Dale very well. He came early to family parties and often left before most people got there. And the older I got the less I saw of him. I’m not saying that’s bad. I know Dale was in The Vietnam war. I can only imagine the things he carried in his head and in his heart. But the things I do remember about my Great Uncle Dale always make me smile. Though he was nervous at family gatherings, he always brought food or drink to share. He was the perfect party guest and ultimate gentleman. When my brother and I graduated college he came to our parties and told our parents how proud he was. I invited him to both my boys first birthday parties. He wasn’t able to come, but sent cards with lovely notes and gifts for the boys. He was so generous. At Christmas time, even if we didn’t see him, he always left gifts for all his great nephews and nieces. When my mom and aunt were at his house, they saw he had kept all of the pictures of my boys I had sent him. Though I didn’t see much of Dale growing up and into my adult life, I felt he loved me and was proud of me and the things I accomplished. It takes a man with a big heart to make someone feel that way and not see them. Thank you Uncle Dale for your service to our country. Thank you for making me feel so loved, even from a distance. Thank you for being so brave to come to family gatherings even though I can only imagine the anxiety you felt. You will be missed Dale.

In remembrance of Dale
So very sorry for your loss of Dale. My husband, sons and I were good friends of his. When I would go to Shakey’s to meet my husband Fitz we always sat with Dale and talked. He was always such a gentleman and we had a lot of laughs and good conversation. My husband is also now passed from Agent Orange too. That is a huge loss for both of them to be gone. Dale was a wonderful man and I will always remember him with a smile on my face because he gave me many happy moments. Linda Fitzenberger.
