Tributes
Dan Rogus, who just turned 50 on August 27, passed away unexpectedly on September 12, 2022. Dan was in the best shape of his life after maintaining a streak of 685 straight days burning at least 1,000 calories, but he experienced a sudden, as-of-yet unexplained heart problem from which he could not recover.
Dan was a force of nature. He was first and foremost a devoted father. His wallet contained 37 photographs approximately ½ inch thick of his wonderful daughter, Katelyn. When Katelyn was first born, Dan was a stay-at-home Dad. Over the years, he maintained the mindset of the stay-at-home Dad while rising in the ranks of the sales world. Dan was extremely proud to become the National Sales Manager of Material Motion in Atlanta, Georgia, but he never lost sight of the important things in life—his beloved Mary, his family, his fitness, his softball and pickleball skills, his Ohio State Buckeyes, and all pro sports coming out of Cleveland. In 2007, he watched every one of the 162 regular season games of the Cleveland Indians, plus all playoff games.
Dan’s competitive spirit and work ethic were unparalleled. His passion for all things sport extended to coaching a recreational volleyball team known fittingly as Boom Shaka Laka! Dan was always the life of the party; he could make anyone laugh and always strived to make others feel better when they needed it most. Most of all, Dan loved his family and always set a good example being a strong leader and an inspiring father.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Grace Rogus and brother: Christopher Rogus. Dan is survived by his daughter: Katelyn Rogus, fiancé: Mary Stauffer, step-children: Brenna Stauffer, Danny Stauffer, Charlie Stauffer, and Naomi Stauffer, brothers: Kevin Rogus, Peter Rogus, and Tim Rogus, Sister: Susan Minoughan, nieces and nephews: Virginia and CJ Rogus, Brittany, Tiffany, and Nicole Rogus, Michael and Kelly Minoughan, Lauren and Collin Rogus, and great-niece: Rory Minoughan.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 10:30am to 1:30pm at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 1:30 pm. Dan will be laid to rest at Burlington Cemetery. In honor of Dan, please come in Cleveland or Ohio State attire or just scarlet and gray.
