The following poem was found in Betty’s bible and illustrates Betty’s love for animals: PUPPY LOVE- When I was laid low with the flu, The Doctor puzzled what to do. But Bruce, my dog, hopped on the bed, and cocked his little furry head. His eyes were bright with sympathy, as he curled himself right next to me. When I would murmur, “I feel so sick,” he’d give my hand a gentle lick. He even tried to spread some joy, by bringing me his favorite toy. No doubt the pills gave the flu a shove, but the healing came from a small dog’s love. Author Unknown.
