Condolences

Ellyn Estelle Cronon (Waring-Cobb) passed away January 13th, 2024, surround by her immediate family at home. Ellie was born July 29th, 1950, in Portland Oregon and raised in Southern California where she graduated from Gladstone High School in 1968. Ellie relocated to Reno, Nevada that year where she began her life’s passion of raising and educating young children. She met and married her husband and best friend of 50 years Elbert “George” Cronon in 1973 at John Ascuaga’s Nugget where they fell in love, he a chef and she a waitress. They raised their family amongst the Sierra Nevada Mountains and loved camping, the outdoors mainly Pyramid Lake and Lake Tahoe.

Ellie was an early childhood educator and member of The Sparks Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary where George was a career fireman. They had two children. Kara Ann (1974) and Gabriel William (1977). In 1994 the family moved to Erlanger, Kentucky where she continued working in early childhood education and being the matriarch of a growing family.

Ellie is the grandmother of three and survived by her husband, daughter and son as well as her Grandchildren Max Ellyn Garrett (1998) Kenna Gabrielle Garrett (2001). She joins her first born grandchild Keegan James Aiazzi (1993-2011) in heaven. Her love was shared by so many people, her sister Ginny Rudy (1958) and her brothers Mel Cobb and Ron Cobb who are also in heaven with her.

Ellie known as Miss Ellie educated hundreds of children in family-owned daycares and multiple roles with KinderCare. Ellie was an artist at heart who loved children immensely and made it her life’s mission to show them love, guidance and the base of knowledge they needed for a life of learning.

Ellie’s favorite song was Louis Armstrong’s, “Wonderful World” and this world was a wonderful place because she was in it. She kept her family unit close to her always and will be deeply missed and loved always and forever.

Ellie has requested in lieu of flowers to please donate toys and books to a local childhood center or to help an animal rescue center. A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
