Arnold “Gene” Monell Sr., 77, of Florence, KY passed away at Villa Spring Care Center on Friday, February 9, 2018.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Monell, and their children, Arnold Gene “Rusty” Monell Jr. (Betty) daughter Paula Preston (Mark) daughter Michelle Ross (David), and son Jason Monell.  He is survived by 10 grandchildren:  Bridget Smith, Arnold Gene “Arnie” Monell III (Jessica), Jamie Monell, Mandy Preston, Stephanie Henry, Brandon Preston (Emily), Justin Bamberger (Haruka), Josh Bamberger (Tiffany), Tyler Monell, Brennan Monell, and 18 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brothers; Clyde Reynolds, Hershel Watson and Daryl Watson.  He was the owner of Bluegrass IGA in Newport, later Bellevue, was a member and Past Master of Queen City Masonic Lodge 559 and a member of Latonia Christian Church.  Gene was the consummate husband, father, and grandfather, and was loved by all who knew him.  Visitation will be held at Linnemann Funeral Home in Burlington, 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY  41005 on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 3:30-6:30 P.M.   The funeral service will follow immediately at the funeral home at 6:30.   A reception will follow the service at the funeral home reception center.  Memorial donations are suggested to: St. Jude’s Children’s Medical Center, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Catch A Dream Foundation (for terminally ill children) attn.: Dr. Marty Brunson, 2485 Ennis Road, Starkville, MS 39759.  On-line condolences to: www.linnemannfuneralhomes.com.

Uncle Gene , our hero

Uncle Gene was the one of kindest, sweet and generous men I knew. Always with a smile and warm welcome. His love & devotion for Aunt Carol was such an inspiration and joy to see. Uncle Gene you will be missed dearly and we hold our memories forever in our hearts. Love your TOOTLES ????
