George Joseph Watkins, MD, 94, of Ft. Mitchell, KY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family. George served many, as a family practitioner in Milford, OH, until he retired at the age of 82. He was a philanthropist, enjoyed fishing and gardening, he was passionate about nature, and he was an avid sports fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Callie Watkins; his wife, Rita Catherine Watkins and his Aunt, Maud Shepherd. He is survived by his children: Chris Watkins (Gina), Rita Watkins Maurer, MD (Tom), and Joe Watkins (Patti). George also leaves behind his grandchildren: Michael, Katie, Lindsay, and Grace. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:00AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Ft. Mitchell. A reception will follow the Mass in the undercroft of Blessed Sacrament Church. I am truly sorry for the loss of your gentle father. My Dad was a patient of his for many years and I want you to know how much he cared for him. Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson Disease and your Dad would research ways to make my Dad’s life a bit easier. He counseled him and me and I will forever remember how gentle he was with my precious Father.

We are so sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a loved one isn’t easy. Our loving God invites us at 1 Peter 5:7 ” to throw all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.” May God give you courage and strength to sustain you in the days ahead. At John 5:28,29 Jesus spoke about a resurrection for our loved ones. These verses helped me to cope with the death of my brother and father may it do the same for you and your family.
