James R. “Jim” Townes, 88, entered eternal life at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, KY on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. Jim was a US Navy and WWII Veteran who retired from Cincinnati Bell. With a strong work ethic went on to work for Robke Chevrolet and Comair/Delta Airlines. Jim loved life, his family, and a good joke. He was a generous man who would help any one in need. Know to his family as a “tough bird”, he loved working in his shop and could fix or build just about anything. Jim-Dad’s Hardware store was always open. Now his shop has moved. He’s working on projects in heaven. Dearly loved by his family he will always be missed. Preceded in death by his son Kenneth. Survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Alberta (Sherry) Townes; his sister, eight children, 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Linnemann Funeral Home and Event Center in Burlington, KY on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with funeral service at noon. Followed by entombment at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill, KY. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital- 501 St. Jude Place- Memphis, TN 38105.
