Tributes
John Allen Smith, 80, went to be home with his Lord on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Born and raised in Petersburg, Kentucky, John was the son of the late Stanley Rue Smith and Doris Baker Smith. Known and loved by many with his iconic voice, John proudly announced the Motor Sports Arena at the Boone County Fair for many years, always using his trademark slogan advertising “Burgers, Fries and Cherry Pies”.
A Veteran of the United States Air Force, John enjoyed being an Auctioneer, served his community as the President of the Hebron Fire Department, was a member of Belleview Baptist Church, and enjoyed spending winters in Mission, Texas.
John was predeceased in death by his parents, his late wife, Carol Smith, and brothers Walter, Stanley “Bud” and Bill. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Roberta Mallory Smith, children, Gary (Regina) Smith, Kimberly Smith Davis, Andy (Kim) Mallory, Timothy (Michele) Mallory, Joel Mallory, and Jonna (Matthew) Gladwell. Grandchildren, Lauren, Brice, Zachary, Dana, Jonathan, Jacob, Paige, Delaney, Ashton, Isaac, great-grandchild, Peyton, and siblings Roy Smith and Sue Wehrman.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Linnemann Funeral Home in Burlington from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations can be made in honor of John to the following Belleview Baptist Church -6658 5th St. Burlington, KY 41005, Helps Right Here- PO Box 508, Burlington, KY 41005, or Loving Heart Hospice 4109 North Dearborn Rd.
