Mary Elise Herzig

Obituary
Condolences

Mary Elise Herzig died peacefully with her children by her side on January 14, 2024,  after a long period of health struggles. Mary was born on March 24, 1946 in Cincinnati. She graduated from Wyoming High School in 1964 and The Christ College of Nursing in 1967.  She was passionate about her career and worked in a variety of disciplines, notably as an ER Nurse Supervisor at Mansfield General Hospital and St. Elizabeth Hospital. Mary was an advocate for the nursing field and outspoken against the stereotypes nurses faced during her era.

Mary is survived by her children Elise (David), William, and Douglas (Alison); her grandchildren Devon, Teagan, Gillian, Jack, and Bailee; her sister, Betty; and her nephew and niece, Scott and Susan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Albert and Doris Elizabeth; her cherished aunts, Ada and Martha; and many beloved canine companions.

A visitation will be held for Mary on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 11am until 12pm at Linnemann Funeral Home, 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY 41005. A service will be held immediately following the visitation at 12pm at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Mary requested donations to The Christ Hospital at https://www.thechristhospital.com/about-the-network/foundation/donate-online

May sadness bring peace

Thoughts and prayers for Bill, Doug, Elise and all the grandkids. A lot of good memories of your mom. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to share some of them with others.

Clay Thoreson

Miss you Mom

What wouldn’t I do just to help you with one more thing mom, or get you some good lunch or just be there to talk and hold your hand. I miss you more then words can describe. Your son, Bill
