Phyllis, born and raised in Harlan, KY, married her high school sweetheart and enjoyed a long loving marriage of 57 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. As the wife of a Baptist minister her husband, Nathaniel, was called to missionary work and spent 15 years on the mission field in South Africa. After returning to the states they continued their service of God’s work, in several churches in Kentucky and Indiana. She also resumed her position with the IRS and retired after 27 years.
It was her strong faith in God and His promises that allowed her to be the remarkable, strong, caring, compassionate woman that she was. Phyllis Ruth Simpson, 76, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2013. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband Nathaniel Simpson of Burlington, KY, son Darrell (Shirley) Simpson of Burlington, KY, daughters Teresa (Stephen) Howard of Hebron, KY, and Sandi Simpson of Burlington, KY, as well as grandchildren Johnathan, Nathan, David, and John and great-grandchildren Zachary, Jayden, and Nathaniel. Visitation will be held at Linnemann Family Funeral Home in Burlington, KY on Friday, August 9, 2013 from5 PM to 9 PM with service on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the funeral home at11 AM and burial to follow at Burlington Cemetery.
