Richard Ammon, age 87 died January the 1st at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Edgewood. He was the owner of Ammon Landscape, Inc. in Burlington where he also resided. Richard was a member of Burlington Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter. Survivors include his wife of 65 years Shirley Ammon; one daughter Pamela Bulla and a son Greg Ammon; 2 brothers Robert and Dr. John Ammon. Richard was Pawpaw to 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday January 5th from 12 noon until 2pm at Linnemann Funeral Home and Event Center, Burlington. Funeral Service will follow at 2pm. Burial will be private in Hopeful Cemetery. We are truly sorry to hear this…Dick was a fellow church member and always had a smile for everyone…He helped our son and other teen boys with
jobs when they were in high school…we really appreciated that…taught them lots…May God be with Shirley and the family during this time and in the
future. He will be missed.

Mrs. Ammon, Pam, Greg and family,
I cannot express how sad I was to hear the news that he was in the hospital and then his passing. And I don’t know where to begin when you have known someone your entire life and it seemed like I spent 1/2 of my adolescent and teen years in their home! I loved him like a second father who always had great advice and a wonderful sense of humor! He always had something funny to say about every topic under the sun, except when Greg drove the tractor into the lake! He really wasn’t laughing then, he was a little angry! And when that happened everyone scattered!!! But he was really the biggest sweetheart and the epitome of a true southern gentleman! He loved his wife so much, along with his children and grandchildren . He set a high standard to follow and worked very hard every day! He practiced being a Christian better than any minister I know! May you Rest in Peace, and remember when you get to Heaven, God is the Master of all landscapers, but I am sure you will be redoing most of his landscaping for Him!!! I cannot make the serviced tomorrow because of work and a meeting that I cannot get out of attending , just know that I love you all and you are in my thoughts and prayers! Love, Cheryl Saalfeld

Mr.Dick Ammon was a good friend and fellow Nurseryman of my Dad,Ed Knox.He thought the world of him.I’m a Nurse at Gateway and I got to reminisce about the days he knew my Dad.They both made the world a more beautiful place to live.He will surely be missed! My heartfelt prayers,deepest sympathy and utmost respect to the Ammon family.God Bless!

So sorry to receive this news. Dick was a real gentleman and a true ambassador for the nursery industry. He will be greatly missed. He was one of my last contacts with my own Dad’s contemporary’s within the industry. My Dad & Mom had some great times with Dick & Shirley in Atlanta at the SNA Meeting & Trade Show in Atlanta.
