Condolences

Ronald Grant Carmack, 74, of Union, KY died peacefully Monday, February 20th, following a brief illness. 

He was born July 22, 1948, in New Castle, Pennsylvania to the late Grant and Ruth (Skinner) Carmack. Ron was a graduate of Grove City High School in Grove City, OH, attended Ohio Northern University in Ada, OH, and graduated from Franklin University in Columbus, OH. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Anita J. (Miller) Carmack, until her death in 2016. 

Ron worked for many years at Rockwell International and retired from Pomeroy IT Solutions in 2017. His great love of music was evident by his singing with groups including the KSO Chorale, the NKY Community Chorus, and The Sanity Singers, as well as directing the choir at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Crestview Hills, KY for more than 25 years. 

Ron is survived by his three children, Aaron (Gwen) Carmack of Columbus, OH, Stephanie (Jason) Riedmiller of Villa Hills, KY, Cynthia (Jim) Davis of Mt. Vernon, OH, three grandchildren, Lauren, Julia, and Kate, sister Susan Shryock of London, OH, and family friend Beate Sommer of Grimstad, Norway.

All memorial events will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 7 Court Pl, Newport, KY 41071. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 until the service begins at 2:30, the Very Reverend Matthew Young presiding, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations in Ron’s memory be made to the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, PO Box 72810, Newport, KY 41072, or  by clicking on the following link Kentucky Symphony Orchestra.
