Tributes
Sister Philomena Rarreick, OSB, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, January 16, at St. Walburg Monastery at age 87. A Benedictine sister for over 66 years, Sr. Philomena served as a primary grade teacher in LaJunta, CO, Danville, Georgetown and Manchester KY and at St. Paul, St. Henry parishes and Children, INC in No. KY.
She is preceded in death by her parents Sidney and Laura (McElfresh) Rarreick, her sisters, Lavonne and Eupha and brother, Vincent and nephew, Steve Rentz. Sr. Philomena is survived by her nieces and nephews: Robert Rentz Jr, Thomas Rentz, Edward Rentz, Richard Rentz, Susan Rentz-Oldfield), Roger Rentz, Carol Ann Rentz-Hoeper, Brenda Bevins, Mary Jo Rarreick -Scheben, Buster Rarreick, friends and her Benedictine community.
Vigil service will be held at 7:00 pm, Sunday, January 21 followed by visitation until 9:00 pm and the Mass of Christian Burial at 5:00 pm, Monday, January 22 at St. Walburg Monastery. Memorials are suggested to St. Walburg Monastery, 2500 Amsterdam Rd., Villa Hills, KY 41017; www.stwalburg.org
